Superior Court’s in Georgia have exclusive jurisdictions over felonies, divorce, many types of civil cases, equity cases and cases related to land title’s.
Civil cases which are heard in Superior Court include personal injury, contracts and business litigation. Â A special power this court has is the power of equity, meaning to stop or enjoin a person from doing something such as in a covenant not to compete. They can actually shut down a business due to violating a covenant of not compete, so they have the power to force someone to not do something or to actually do something like turn over certain items.
The Superior Court of Georgia also handles divorce cases. Â Divorce can not be handled by any other court other than in the Superior Court, neither can modifications.
