Georgia Defense Lawyer Explains the DUI Post-Arrest Trial Process

After a Georgia DUI arrest, or any other arrest, there are several important events and deadlines for a citizen accused. In many Georgia DUI arrest cases, the first deadline is the appeal of a Notice of Intent to Suspend the defendant’s driver’s license. The next event is Arraignment. At the arraignment, a defendant needs to enter a guilty or not guilty plea and motions should be filed. After the filing of motions, the judge will hold a hearing many weeks or months after arraignment. If the Georgia DUI arrest case is not dismissed at the motions hearing, then a trial by jury or judge will be conducted. Finally, if any errors of law occurred at the motions hearing or at trial, then an appeal could be filed in an attempt to overturn the Georgia DUI arrest conviction.
